The global entertainment and media giant may be heading in a new direction. According to Reuters, NBCUniversal is reportedly considering entering the video game industry.
Currently, the American company (which includes Universal Pictures, Peacock, various theme parks, and several TV networks) is in the midst of a spin-off from its parent company, Comcast, with the goal of creating a new publicly traded entity. Only once this process is complete will the company be able to explore new avenues.
Among the projects mentioned, NBCUniversal is reportedly targeting the video game market by leveraging franchises to drive its growth. Of course, we’ll have to wait a while before these plans come to fruition.
