It’s a fact: Subnautica 2 is already a resounding critical and commercial success. Despite the difficulties encountered during development and the controversies sparked by Krafton, the cooperative survival game launched in May (in Early Access) and has managed to find an audience.

Bloomberg reported this week that the South Korean publisher has finally agreed to pay the $250 million bonus to the teams at Unknown Worlds. An amicable agreement has been reached with the studio’s CEO and co-founders.

Furthermore, after being fired last summer and then reinstated following a court ruling in March 2026, CEO Ted Gill is leaving the developer for good. He made his resignation official during an interview with Bloomberg.

“We have mutually agreed to part ways. New leadership is the best solution for the studio’s future.”

Finally, additional bonuses will even be added to the initial sum. All of the studio’s teams will receive compensation exceeding what was originally planned.
