Tension is palpable at Rockstar Games as the November 19, 2026, launch of GTA VI approaches. According to a report by The Guardian, employees are seeking to unionize before the game’s release.
Last October, the company laid off about 30 people in the United Kingdom and Canada. The affected employees cited a “violation of freedom of association,” while Rockstar accused those primarily involved of “serious misconduct.” The company stated that confidential information had been shared publicly by these individuals.
As a result, the developers are now seeking official recognition of their union in order to protect themselves against potential new layoffs once GTA VI is released. The employees are even considering going on strike if Rockstar chooses not to recognize their union.
